Several years ago my littles really got into Miraculous Ladybug. And let's be completely honest, so did I. Yep, I watched a lot of Ladybug and Cat Noir while I was sewing. It is a fascinating show and really quite fun for everyone. Plus, who doesn't want to be a young superhero in Paris.

If you aren't familiar with the show, a young woman is found to be kind, honest and true and chosen to become a legendary superhero named Ladybug by ancient beings. In the process, she finds new friends and helps them become superheroes. Plus, she finds friendship in Cat Noir.
Naturally, my little ones fell in love with the characters and ideals of the show. They really wanted to be Ladybug and Cat Noir for Halloween. I couldn't disappoint.
Easy Costume Base for Kids
For most of my kids costumes, I start with a basic pajama pattern. I like my kids to be comfy, warm and the ability to reuse their costume as often as possible. For these costumes I started with my favorite pajama pattern the Alex and Anna Pajama Pattern.
How to Make a Miraculous Ladybug Costume
To start out, I used my Cricut Machine to cut out different sizes of black iron on polka dots. I stuck them on and moved them until I felt everything looked right. Then ironed them on based on directions.
We found a red yo-yo and red mask and added polka dots to them as well.
For the purse, we cut out two red hearts in leftover knit fabric and sewed the two pieces together with a piece of red string for the strap. Ironing on black polka dots.
For the blue wig, I used the tutorial from Made Everyday. Basically, you take a knit cap and stitch blue yarn down them middle to make "hair". Then trim it down to the size you want. We pulled them back into two ponies to look like Ladybug.
Now pose and you are officially Ladybug!!
Making a Cat Noir Costume
Materials needed
Cat Noir is even easier than Ladybug. You just need to cut out a bell shape using the Cricut Maker. They have a free pattern in Cricut Design Space. Iron it on around the neckline of the pajamas.
Next, make sure you have a black mask. My kids had plastic masks but I would have done felt masks now.
For the ears, cut out two semi-circle pieces of craft foam. Glue them to the top of a black headband. I also cut out small triangles in the craft foam to glue to the end of black gloves. I just used hot glue but you could also use E6000 for a little better grip.
Now go out and save Paris! Or just get lots of yummy candy trick-or-treating.
