Hair. We've got it. We have to figure out what to do with it every day, including when we travel. Like how to pack small containers of shampoo or hairspray. Or how to carry our flat iron or curling iron without melting our suitcase or scorching our luggage tags.

Well, today I've got a great solution for you! If you are traveling this year, try making yourself this diy flat iron case. Better yet! Make two. One for you flat iron and another diy curling iron holder for that oh so important curling iron or wand.
Why might I need a DIY Flat Iron Case?
This flat iron case and curling iron holder is perfect for traveling. Not only will it help protect your favorite hair styling tool, but it will help prevent heat from melting or scorching your luggage. Plus, it is wide enough to fit the cord, which means less of a tangled mess for you.
This project isn't hard. In fact, it is a great beginner project. You'll need a bit of fabric, some batting, Velcro and a bit of bias tape. That's it! So easy.

How to Make a DIY Curling Iron Holder
Materials Needed
- Free Curling Iron Holder Pattern - click peach button at the end of the post
- 1/2 yard Cotton material
- 1/2 yard Wrap n' Zap Batting
- 7" Bias Tape
- 2" Piece of Velcro
- Matching thread
Step 1
Cut out pattern pieces using downloadable pattern at the end of the post OR with measurements below
2 - 5.5" x 18" main fabric
2 - 5.5" x 18" batting fabric
1 - 5.5" x 9" in main fabric and in batting
Quilt each main fabric piece to a piece of batting. Quilt by sewing straight lines done the long side of the pattern pieces about 1" apart.
Open the bias tape and wrap it around the top edge of the pocket piece. Stitch in place.
Stitch the soft side of the Velcro piece in the middle of the pocket just below the bias tape.
Match the bottom raw end of the pocket piece to the bottom of one of the 18" pieces. Pin.
Place the other 18" piece with Right Sides Together over the pocket/18" piece. Pin. Stitch the three sections together, leaving a 3" opening on one of the long sides.
Turn the curling iron holder right side out through the opening that was left on the side. Push out all the corners and rounded edges. Press.
Topstitch the opening closed or hand stitch it closed using the slipstich. Press well.
Step 6
Take the hook side of the Velcro and pin at the top of the flat iron case. Stitch a box stitch around the Velcro.
Now simply add your flat iron or curling iron to the pocket and close the Velcro. Isn't that simple!!
I really love how quick this diy flat iron case is, but also useful. A great way to travel light with your hot hair utensils.
What width if bias tape do i need? Im new and havent used bias yet
