Making your own felt ornaments can be such a fun way to decorate for the
holiday season.
Christmas crafts like ornaments make perfect gifts for friends, family and
neighbors. Add a felt ornament to a card or as the "bow" on a gift to
make it special and unique.

Felt ornaments can also be fun projects do create and display throughout
the year. Not just at Christmas.
Many of these ornaments can be done entirely by hand sewing and can be done
while away from home.
How to make felted Christmas ornaments?
Sewing with felt is simple and fun. With these few tips you'll make
some great ornaments.
Cutting out your felt is the most important part of making your
ornaments. Use shape scissors to cut out your design. Or look
for designs that can be cut using a cutting machine like the
Cricut Maker.
Felt can be hand sewn or sewn by machine. Always read through the
instructions first before you decide to hand sew or machine sew.
As you sew, make sure not to pull the thread to tight or you the shapes of your project may deform.
Felt designs are best sewn together with either a whip stitch or a blanket stitch. Both make a great design and keep the project together nicely.

What supplies are needed to make felt ornaments?
Start by picking great quality felt. Cheap, thin felt can be frustrating to sew. Check out
Benzie Designs
for great quality.
Use a temporary adhesive spray to help keep your designs in place while stitching.
What do you stuff felt ornaments with?
I personally like to use an inexpensive Poly Fiberfil. However, you can use small fabric scraps or recycled stuffing from old toys as well.
