DIY Princess Anna Dress Up Tutorial

My little red head loves to dress up.  She loves to pretend and make believe.  And especially all those princesses.  She loves them all!

When it comes to picking a princess, it is a struggle.  But I have a bit of a soft spot for a princess that teaches you to do "The Next Right Thing".

I mean, why wouldn't we love Anna?  She's a kind, a bit awkward and a beautiful red head!!

This quick diy anna costume is the perfect addition to our dress up box.  We already have a diy Elsa costume and added a Space Ranger earlier this year.

As with most of our girl dress up costumes, I am using the free Peasant Play Dress.  It is a great pattern that comes in many sizes and works for years.

For this dress, I designed a cut file to add to the authenticity.  You can get the Arendelle cut file at the end of the post.

Materials Needed

If sewing steps don't have 100% directions, make sure to refer to the original Peasant Play Dress post for all the sewing instructions.

Step 1
Color block the bodice top of the peasant dress.  Cut the pattern about 3" down from the top.  Add a 1/4" seam allowance to both the top and the bottom pieces.

Cut your fabric out.

Tip:  Check out the video to see how exactly I do this with the pattern.

Step 2
With Right Sides Together (RST), sew the top of the bodice to the bottom.

Repeat with back bodice.

Step 3
Add some ribbon or rick-rack down the seam of the two pieces.

Step 4
Sew the sleeves to the bodice front.

Step 5
Your bodice should look like this.  Add the elastic in the sleeves and neckline.

You can wait to do this step at the end as well.

Step 6
Sew the peasant skirt together.  Add a piece of gold rick-rack down the front and back.

Step 7
Gather the skirt at the top raw edge.

Step 8
Match the bodice top to the gathered skirt.  Gather the skirt to be the same width as the top.

Place the two with right sides together and stitch together.

To see this completed step, head to the original Peasant Play Dress post for all the sewing instructions.

Step 9
Cut out and add gold vinyl iron-on to your dress on the bodice and along the hemline.

That's it!!  Such a quick project that will make any little princess (or prince) light up.

I haven't put together the tutorial for the cape yet, but hopefully that is to come.
