Easiest Microwave Baked Potato Recipe

We live in Idaho.

They call it the potato state.  Which means, we eat a LOT of potatoes.

In fact, we glean fresh potatoes from the fields around us each year.  But with all those potatoes comes the responsibility to use and eat them.  That is why I love making microwave baked potatoes.

Baked potatoes usually take between 45 minutes and an hour in the oven.  Which is fine when you have a lot of time.

But most of the time it seems like dinner is on a time crunch and we don't plan ahead as well.

That is why I love using the microwave potato bag pattern to make potatoes.

How to Make a Microwave Baked Potato

Start by poking holes in a potato.  Place in the microwave and bake it for 3-4 minutes.

If you have paper towels, you can wrap the potato in this and that will help keep the skins from shriveling up.  But it won't stop it completely.

  1. Good morning Chelsea,
I am a novice sewer and enjoyed watching the quick video and your instructions are spot on. Unfortunately, I need to watch the short video a few times to really get the step by step. I couldn't figure out how to get to the facebook video that I thought was supposed to be at the end. I am looking forward to watching your videos. I love the potato bag.
Enjoy 2021. I am excited to know it definitely will be better than 2020.
