I'm 33 weeks pregnant with my first baby. It's been a long road to get here but I'm so happy to be expecting my baby boy in just a few months. It is starting to get really real and I'm not going to lie I'm getting pretty nervous. One thing I do know after taking care of my nieces is that I am a baby wearing type of girl. Yesterday I shared a simple tutorial for how to make your own Moby baby carrier. It's so easy and there is really no reason to pay the high price that they charge for those things.

So today I have a simple tutorial on how to add a fun fabric panel to your basic moby style carrier to personalize it. This one is for my sister's friend who is doing a whole robot theme!

Start by using my homemade moby tutorial to make your basic knit carrier. The panel can be made out of either a woven or knit fabric. The one I used a standard quilting cotton. You'll want your panel to be 22 inches by the height of your moby at the center. So the piece or fabric used in this robot carrier was 44" X 32". Start off by ironing all four edges under 1/4 inch. I serged my edges first because they were stringy but that really isn't necessary.

Next line your fabric panel up with the center (seam) of the moby. Pin in place.

With a zig zag stitch sew around all four edges. And you are good to go.

If you're not familiar with a moby baby carrier it's a really great carrier that allows you to keep your little one close while having full use of both your arms. I've cooked and sewn and grocery shopped in these puppies. You can use it for infants and newer babies.
