Silverware Pocket Sewing Tutorial
Materials Needed
- Silverware Pocket Pattern (grab the pattern at the end of the post)
- 2 - 12 x 12" pieces cotton fabric
- Fusible Interfacing
- Matching Thread
- Optional: 1/4" wide ribbon
Pattern uses a 1/4" Seam allowance
Step 1
Press interfacing to the wrong side of one of the main pieces.
Step 2
With right sides together, put the two pocket pieces together. Stitch across the top edge at 1/4".
Turn pocket right side out and press.
Step 3
Place the main piece right side up on a flat surface. Match the bottom of the pocket to the main piece and pin.
Step 4
Place the opposite main piece over the two layers with wrong side facing up. You should have a little fabric "sandwich" now. Pin layers together.
Mark a 2" opening at the top of the main fabric piece.
Step 5
Stitch around the silverware pocket. Leaving a 2" opening at the top.
Step 6
Trim the corners and turn the pocket right side out. Press.
Step 7
Topstitch around the entire pocket, closing off the opening. Press.
