Have you ever looked at a plain glass mason jar and wished they looked a little prettier?
Maybe it is just me. I use mason jars constantly in my kitchen, and not just for canning. Mason jars hold my sourdough starter. They organize my sugar and pasta. They even hold sweet treats or homemade bath salts for gifts during the holiday season.

Sometimes regular mason jar lids just don't look special enough. I want things to still look homey and fun. That's why I started making mason jar fabric covers.
These little covers are simple to sew, but make a BIG difference and are an upgrade to those plain jars. They make them cute plus they are practical and reusable!
I've used them for everything including keeping dust out of my kitchen staples to giving pretty mason jar presents a little homemade touch.
Since I love them so much, I thought you might too! Let's get you making your own easy mason jar covers.

How to Sew Mason Jar Fabric Covers
Materials Needed
Cut out two bowl covers using the downloadable pattern. The circles each have a 7" circumference.
Place right sides together and stitch around the edge at 1/4". Leave a 1" opening.
Step 3
Turn circle right side out and press. Press raw edge of the opening into the cover.
Step 4
Stitch a 1/2" from the edge of the fabric making a casing for the elastic.
Step 5
Cut a 6" piece of 1/4" elastic for your cover. Then thread elastic through the casing.
Step 6
Overlap the elastic and tie it in a square knot to keep the ends together. Alternatively you can stitch the ends together.
Step 7
Stitch the casing closed.
Now place it over the top of your mason jar! It is that simple. This pattern works great for both the wide mouth and regular mouth mason jars.
