One of our favorite things to make this time of year is a clear vinyl zipper pouch! It’s a fun way to keep pencils, crayons, and supplies neat and easy to find.
Today we are sharing how to sew a pencil pouch using clear vinyl. This can be a confident beginner project. We are trying a new material to sew and adding a zipper.
Tips for Working with Clear Vinyl
Sewing with clear vinyl can feel tricky, but with a few simple tips, it’s totally doable!
First, use clips instead of pins. Pins leave holes in vinyl that won’t go away.
A non-stick or Teflon presser foot can help your machine glide smoothly over the surface, but if you don’t have one, try placing a piece of tissue paper between the vinyl and the foot, then tear it away after stitching. Or, place a piece of masking tape or washi tape to the bottom of your presser foot.
