When the wind blows and the snow is in the forecast, there's nothing quite like a steaming mug of rich and creamy hot cocoa. Hot cocoa has a way of bringing us comfort and warmth from the inside out.
Which is why, when it comes to crafting, I often find inspiration from my love for hot cocoa.

Hot Cocoa Ornament DIY
Materials Needed
- Hot cocoa ornament pattern - get at the end of the post, look for the peach colored button
- Felty Holiday Assortment Pack - Red, Green and White
- Sulky 12wt. Christmas Sampler
- Embroidery Needle
- Heat n' Bond
- 10" piece of 1/8" ribbon
Step 1
Cut out the hot cocoa ornament in felt with the mug pieces in color and the whipped topping in white.
Step 2
Trace the snowflake pattern onto some Heat n' Bond and press to the wrong side of your felt.
Step 3
Carefully cut the snowflake out and remove the paper of the Heat n' bond.
Step 4
Press snowflake to the mug bottom piece. Using a backstitch, sew the snowflake to the mug bottom.
Step 5
Place the whip topping over the main mug piece. Baste the whip topping to the mug using a running stitch.
Place the bottom mug piece over the top mug. Making sure the bottom mug hides the running stitch on the whip topping. Pin in place.
Stitch a running stitch around the mug handle.
Thread a 10 inch piece of ribbon through the middle of the whip topping and the mug back. Tie a knot at the end.
