Every winter into spring it seems like there is a rush on babies being born. Which is okay, since we all love to hold those sweet little bundles.

But sometimes coming up with a fun gift for a new baby is a challenge. It is great fun to make something handmade, but it isn't always in our schedule to sit and sew something big or time consuming.
That's why you are going to love this super easy baby cap pattern. It is quick, takes very little fabric and works for babies from newborn to 24 months.

Step 1
Cut out two of the cap body and one cap band on the fold.
Step 2
With Right Sides Together (RST), stitch from the top of the dart to the bottom of the dart. Repeat with the opposite piece.
Step 3
Open the 2 sets of cap body pieces. Place them with RST and stitch across the top
edge of the cap.
Fold the band in half with RST. Match the 2 short sides and stitch down.
Fold the band in half with the right side out and raw edges touching.
Step 6
Turn the cap top right side out. Match the raw edges of the cap
to the raw edges of the band. Stitch the
cap and band together.
Turn the band down. Optional: Topstitch around the base of the cap top.
That's it! You've sewn up your first baby cap. It is super simple and doesn't require a lot of material. Go stitch up some more!
