Plus, you can add your own personal touch by choosing fabrics that match the recipient's favorite colors or interests. Best of all, a handmade snake plush makes a great holiday present, birthday present, or just-because gift.
My kids made handmade gifts for their cousins last Christmas and my 6 year old made 2 of these snakes for his cousins. It was fun to watch him learn to sew. And since this project only has a few stitches, it didn't take him long to make.
Let's get you making your own snake stuffie.
Easy Snake Stuffie Sewing Pattern
- 42" x 8" cotton fabric
- (2) 1/2-1" buttons
- Scrap piece of red felt
- Poly Fiber-fil
- Thread
- Sewing Hand Needle
Cut the tongue of the snake from the scrap of felt. It can be any shape you want. I did a forked tongue.
Take the cotton fabric and fold it in half with right sides together. Match the long sides.
Place the tongue in between one of the short sides of the fabric.
Stitch from the short side of the snake down the long side of the snake. Leave the remaining short side open.
Open the short side that the tongue is sewn into. Box out the corners by making a triangle in each corner and stitching down.
Turn the snake right side out.
Step 5
Stuff snake with poly-fiberfil until it is filled to your liking.
If you don't have fiberfil, you can stuff it with old t-shirt or fabric scraps.
Turn the remaining raw side into the snake about 1/2" all the way around. Stitch closed.
Hand stitch two buttons onto the face of the snake. You can place them in the center or on the outside. It's totally up to you.
Conclusion paragraph: So there you have it! A quick and easy snake plush pattern that is perfect for sewing up some fun holiday gifts.
