If you're like me, you're always looking for ways to reduce your reliance on disposable plastics. One way to do that is by making reusable produce bags. They're easy to make and work great for carrying groceries, fruits, and vegetables. Plus, they help keep your food fresh longer.
This post contains affiliate links to products I recommend. I do make a portion off any you may purchase. See full disclosure here.
What is a reusable produce bag?
A reusable produce bag is also known as a 'green bag,' these bags are typically made from materials like nylon, polyester and even organic cottons. You can make them in a variety of sizes, so you can choose one that's big enough to hold all your produce.
Why should I use a reusable produce bag?
Reusable produce bags are made of sturdy fabric that can be used over and over again. They're also usually larger than plastic bags, so you can fit more produce in each one.
Not to mention, they just look a lot nicer than a bunch of wilted greens stuffed into a see-through bag.
Plus, you won't end up with a grocery bag full of grocery bags in your pantry, under your sink or stuffed in your closet.
What materials do I need to make a produce bag?
Most DIY produce bags are made of either lightweight cotton or a sturdy mesh material. Both of these allow for the produce to breathe without adding extra moisture or weight.
