I love getting emails from my readers. I love when you send photos of projects you've completed or ask questions. I also love getting ideas for sewing projects that are useful to you. That is how this DIY tea wallet pattern came about.

I had a reader email me at the beginning of the year wondering if I had such a pattern or would be willing to create one. Of course I said I'd add it to my sewing list.
It has taken me the better part of this year to get it on my calendar, researched, designed and sewn up. But here it is. And I must say I am very happy with the end result.
Not only is it useful, but it turned out so pretty. I hope you'll be able to create some for yourself or your friends and family.
This would make a really easy gift for the holidays and is definitely a nice scrap busting project as well.

Fold each pocket piece in half and press. Stitch across the folded edge.
Step 2
Place the larger pocket just above the middle of the tea wallet interior. Stitch across the bottom raw edge of the pocket.
Place the smaller pocket on the bottom edge of the tea wallet interior. Stitch the raw edge of the pocket to the bottom edge of the tea wallet interior.
Step 3
Pin two pieces of ribbon to either side of the tea wallet. Tuck the ribbon into one of the pockets to keep it from accidentally getting sewn.
Step 4
With Right Sides Together (RST), Pin the exterior piece of the tea wallet to the interior piece. Mark a 2-3" opening to turn the wallet later.
Step 5
Stitch the two layers together at 1/4" around the wallet. Make sure to turn the corners. Press.
Trim the corners down and turn the wallet right side out. Press.
Step 6
Topstitch around the outside of the wallet right on the edge. Press the wallet in half matching the ribbon. Use the seam you just pressed to stitch down the center of the wallet to make the 4 tea pockets.
Tada! You made a simple tea wallet. Now you can carry those precious tea packets without loosing them or them accidentally opening in your bag.

I use herbal teas and always have them floating round in whatever bag I'm using at the time. Will definitely be making one or two of these
