Halloween Surprise Balls from The Tiptoe Fairy

Hi everyone! I'm Stephanie from The TipToe Fairy, and I'm so excited to be today! My favorite holiday is Halloween, and I just love coming up with fun ideas every year. This year I think we've decided we are finally going to host a spooky Halloween party for kids and adults.  I needed some easy Halloween favors to hand out.

One thing I love to do for parties and is have a little gift to send home with guests as a little "thank you" for coming to the party, especially for kids. I decided to make Halloween favors called "surprise" balls, to offer the kids this year for the party. Instead of a little goodie bag, it's a bunch of fun little trinkets and candy wrapped in crepe paper.

My kids love these! They open them slowly to savor the fun and treats. These are super easy to make, and you can find all the supplies at the dollar store -- which I love! I filled ours with candy, bubbles, stretchy bugs, and little skeleton noise makers perfect for Halloween favors.

Halloween Surprise Balls

Supplies

  • Trinkets
  • Candy
  • 1 roll of stream paper/crepe paper per ball
  • stickers
  • clear Scotch tape or packing tape
1. At the Dollar Tree, you can buy 2 rolls of streamer for $1. You'll need 1 roll of streamer paper per ball you'll want to make and lots of candy and Halloween trinkets. I usually put 15-20 trinkets and candy per roll.

2. Begin rolling up your first trinket. I usually begin with one of the larger toys or a small container of bubbles (like these eyeballs!) and start wrapping.

3. Continue wrapping and add in candy and trinkets every 8-10 rolls.

4. Keep wrapping and wrapping, make sure to tug tightly on the paper to keep it tight and firm after adding each candy or trinket.

5. Once you've added all the toys, keep wrapping and wrapping to form a big ball.

6. Once you are down to about 3 feet of crepe paper left, cut off a 2-foot section for later. Wrap the last food tightly and use a piece of tape to seal it closed.

7. Take the 2-foot piece from a different color of crepe paper and cut it in half the entire length of the piece, so you'll end up with 2 skinny pieces for wrapping. Take one and wrap it tightly lengthwise of the ball. Take the second and wrap it width wise around the ball. Finish off with a small piece of tape and a cute Halloween themed sticker for each Halloween favor.

Then, give a ball to each child, and let the fun begin!

I hope you have as much fun with this craft as I did making it and letting my kids unravel the surprises!  Halloween surprise balls are the perfect Halloween favor for your next party.
